I was many things before I became an academic: social worker, youth anti-oppression organizer, teacher, filmmaker. I was always looking for the “right” vocation, the one that would allow me to stand and critique society while not forcing me to chose among my range of interests and passions.

I first discovered IVSA through my doctoral advisor, Eric Margolis. I was searching for an academic community that shared my interests in strategic visual messages, emerging media, and community-based art projects, and he suggested I would fit in well with the visual scholars in IVSA. I joined IVSA on his suggestion, and I couldn’t be happier with the community I’ve found. I am constantly intrigued and by the visual work IVSA members produce, and being part of the IVSA board inspires my own work daily.

My work with IVSA is focused on developing and maintaining your website, visualsociology.org.

While my discipline is in technology and information management, it's fitting to add my profile to the directory as I correspond with many members and guests through the IVSA Help Desk.
