New Anticolonialism & Antiracism (ACAR) Awards Program
The IVSA is pleased to announce a new awards program for outstanding work in advancing Anticolonial & Antiracist (ACAR) goals and principles. The new program will offer two related awards: one for progressive advocacy and visual research (PAVR) and one for visual activism (VA). The ACAR awards are in addition to existing Rieger and Prosser award programs that are also administered by the IVSA.
The IVSA Anticolonialism & Antiracism (ACAR) Awards Program was established in 2021 to recognize outstanding anticolonial and antiracist work by researchers and activists who use visual methodologies or advance visual activism through their work.
Work nominated for an ACAR award needs to be visually significant, embody ethical principles, and reflect anti-exploitative practices. Nominated work can include accounts and documents of activism by others, but it must also document the critical engagement of nominees themselves and a commitment to ACAR that goes beyond work duties and personal advancement.
For more information about this new IVSA Awards program, please see the ACAR Awards Program page.
The deadline for submitting nominations and supplementary materials for both of the ACAR awards—and for the Rieger and Prosser awards—is May 1, 2021.
Please check the ACAR Awards Program web page for details and pass this announcement and link to friends and colleagues.
