Ernesto Noronha

Ernesto Noronha is a visual and work sociologist who extensively uses images in his research and teaching qualitative methods. He has had a long-standing interest in photography, with one of his earliest sociological projects undertaken in the mid-1990s in Mumbai, for Arizona State University, which focused on rag pickers and pharmaceutical salespeople.
His projects in the last few years focus on brick kiln workers, construction workers, child labour on Bt cotton seed fields and ragpickers at dump sites. He also dabbles in wildlife photography, with a long-standing ongoing project of conserving birds around Ahmedabad, India.
