IVSA Board Member Elect
I am a cultural anthropologist and champion for all things urban education. I am a Professor of Urban Education but also wear a hat as a higher education administrator (Senior Associate Dean for Strategic Academic Initiatives) at Rutgers University-Newark in Newark, NJ (United States). I have been doing visual sociological research formally since 2018.
My current research uses photovoice and photoelicitation with teachers of Color in urban schools throughout the United States accompanied with a physical and virtual exhibit. I have also ventured into me-search exploring visual autoethnography (video, photos, and crafting) around what it means to be a Black MotherScholar. IVSA instantly felt like “home” when I attended my first conference, and I am happy to serve on the Board to serve the organization.
