IVSA 40 Year Anniversary Activities
Call for Expressions of Interest

2026 marks the IVSA’s 40th anniversary!
To celebrate, we would like to support and promote an international series of activities and workshops devoted to Visual Studies and Visual Sociology, to be run throughout 2026.
These anniversary events are intended to be inclusive and may include talks, roundtables or seminars, mentoring and networking events, workshops and hands-on training in visual studies. Please note that workshops ordinarily involve 1-3 full days of formal practical instruction. Activities may be submitted by any IVSA member, and may also be submitted by our existing regional groups.

All approved activities and workshops will be promoted widely on the 40 year anniversary page of the IVSA’s website and on our social media channels to ensure maximum engagement.
However, please note that we only have resources to fund a select number of in person and hybrid 1-3 day formal workshops on visual studies and visual methodologies, in order to engage and upskill our IVSA members around the globe. A tentative budget per project is between 500 – 3,000 USD and we will also support existing initiatives which align with this agenda.
Please do indicate your expressions of interest before November 30th.
We expect to notify all workshop and activity hosts by mid December.
