2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the International Visual Sociology Association (IVSA) as a truly international association. In this milestone year, we celebrate four decades of innovation, collaboration, and critical engagement in visual studies and visual sociology. Throughout the year, an international series of events will take place across Europe, Asia, North and South America — from film festivals and exhibitions to hands-on workshops exploring ethnography, affect, collaborative methods, creative research practices, and visual education.

Together, these anniversary activities showcase the global reach of IVSA and the continuing evolution of visual research as a vital, interdisciplinary field.
